“ An entire restaurant devoted to potatoes and gravy. What could be better? Not much in my estimation. I was super thrilled to find multiple vegetarian options. I had the onion gravy and it was delicious. The chickpea pie had more tomato in it than I expected. Overall, I wish I could return here regularly, but alas, I was just on vacation. ”
“ Maybe British tourist food, maybe not, but we absolutely loved it had a couple of different pies. Nice server! ”
“ # Overall: Definitely recommend Mother Mash. No doubt about it. The portion size is perfect, the flavors just work. # Ambiance Mother Mash attempts a very diner like vibe, which works really well with the hearty meals they serve. # Food and Drink Orange Juice, Ginger Beer Orange juice has no pulp if interested. Out of 4 ginger beers I had, this was my second favorite one. The ginger flavor is prominent, but just a little too much additional sugar sources. Champ + London Smoky + Traditional This bangers and mash dish was one of my biggest surprises. Everything just worked well with this dish. Didn't really notice the cheese, but the spring onion works well in the mash. The smokiness and snap with the London smoky is also appreciated. Classic + Cumberland + Farmer Ordered this combination after having the first. Overall, the gravy had more umami flavor here, but the dish relied more on the gravy for flavor. The sausage here is much looser and doesn't have any snap to it, but it is stronger in individual flavor. The traditional mash just feels lacking after losing the spring onions from the "Champ". Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard This pudding was lovely. Was expected a much denser product, but it was light and fluffy and paired so nicely with the custard. ”
“ Their menu is pretty easy to navigate, but definitely ask a server for recommendations, if needed. I ended up choosing a mash, a pie, and a gravy, Ording to the servers recommendations of best sellers and combos. I got the mash that had fried potatoes, onions, and peas. I got the Steak pie with the red wine and onion gravy. Wash it down with a local. The food came out fast and the service was efficient. ”
“ We visited London for a week and had to try England comfort food - bangers and mash. My son always liked mashed potatoes and sausages so it was a no brainer. Question was where. We found Mother Mash on Yelp, it was 5pm and the place is already packed. Inside seating iss decent and they have outdoor patio seating around the entrance too. Staff was attentive and quick. We were seated after waiting for 10-15min and placed our order in 5min. Everything came out fast, hot, and delicious. we had Cumberland, Lincolnshire, and Mother Plucker sausages with different gravies, baked cauliflower cheese, and sticky toffee pudding. the sticky pudding was so good, warm sticky, a hint of sweetness in the pudding that goes really well with custard on the side. They take reservations but from what i can tell most ppl just show up. Table turnaround is pretty quick especially for smaller groups. ”
“ Delicious pie and mash. Sticky toffee pudding with custard was mildly sweet and delectable. The servers were so sweet. They make you feel very welcome! ”
“ Mother Mash is one of my must-go spots whenever I'm back in London. If you're craving classic comfort food, this place has it all. The mash is always perfectly creamy, and the selection of pies and sausages is spot on, with great balance of flavors that really hit the spot. But the real standout for me is the toffee pudding--it's absolutely incredible! Rich, warm, and the perfect way to end a meal. It's def one of the must! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect place to enjoy some hearty, traditional British food. Great customer service. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area--it never disappoints! ”
“ Classic British comfort food at its finest without breaking the bank. If you are looking for a typical bangers and mash without all the hoopla, this is your restaurant. You could get it with all the pomp and circumstance too, but that would be missing the point. The point is simplicity, and this little restaurant near Piccadilly Circus gets most of this point across. It is worth going here after a nice morning of shopping. The meal is hearty and genuinely tasty. Normally, I am skeptical of mashed potatoes outside of the home but these work incredibly well. If there is one thing Europe outdoes us in, it is cooking mashed potatoes. Take notes please USA. Now I know why people told me I had to stop by here. ”
“ Mother Mash was worth the hype! The restaurant was packed when I went on a Thursday night. The restaurant is very casual and feels local. My husband ordered the Steak and Stout pie with the Champ potato's and onion gravy. I ordered the Lincolnshire with the Cheesy potato's and Farmers gravy. Both meals were absolutely delicious!! Somehow they figured out how to elevate bangers and mash to a whole new level of excellence! I would recommend ordering multiple and sharing with your friends so you can try various pairings. I will be recommending to all of my friends and family who visit London as favorite spot. ”
“ Went for Lunch Food - 5/5. Pie had an amazing crust that was firm and buttery. It added a solid texture to pair with the softer steak and mashed potatoes, while still being soft enough to break apart with just a fork. Steak was tender, full of beef flavor, and enriched by the gravy. The gravy was a perfect example of a brown sauce: aromatic and rich in flavor with a nappe consistency. Mashed potatoes were smooth and buttery. The horseradish was excellent at adding vibrancy to the heavy flavors of pie and mash. The whiff of horseradish woke up your senses and the coldness added to its refreshing taste. Service - 4/5. Friendly and prompt service. Value - 5/5. They provide a more modern version of pie and mash while maintaining its traditional flavor profile. The pie was huge and the mash serving was large. They offer a large variety of mash, pies, and gravy; all for the same price of £14. Excellent spot to experience the local comfort food. Parking - N/A ”
